MacKenzies Fall, Grampians

A must-see place to visit while in the Grampians. Mackenzie Falls lays in stark contrast to the typical markedly dry, harsh and parched landscape of the Grampians where after last years bush fires, had left most of the trees burnt, in a state of shedding, or barely re-vegetating.

Being a frequented attraction, Mackenzie Falls has a neat, well-arranged pathway with stable railings for visitors to use. The steps become narrower and wetter as you descend to the Mackenzie Falls base, until the steep path down has only enough width space for a single person.

The falls were exquisite and the delight of everyone, including myself, was evidently strewn all over our faces. The air was fresh, cool, moist. Moreover, the breeze made the experience all the more refreshing. If I could have had a picnic there, I would have had it not been for the setting sun and my physical incapability at the time to carry any food downhill.

The falls themselves would make you jump in delight with a never ending feeling of elation and excitement. The base of the falls is also the perfect location for majestic waterfall-background shots above raised boulders. The boulders appeared to be conveniently positioned by nature to capture both the width of the falls and the appropriate size of the subject being photographed.

MacKenzies Falls is SO WORTH THE VISIT.

I visited MacKenzie falls after a significantly exhausting 3 hours, rocky and steep slopes of Boronia Walk, thus it was agonizing climbing back up. It would definitely be recommended to not try and pressure yourself with 4 walks within a single hot and sunny day if you are not familiar to bush-walking.
